The renowned publisher has welcomed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.

Brinkman steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing early showing last fall.

On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer informed staff about this organizational change through an internal memo, which stressed that early feedback sessions had shown the necessity for a distinct direction.

Ismailer noted that the team is now refining the project with a revised vision, aiming to satisfy player expectations.

Trend of Strategic Hires

This announcement echoes a similar step taken by the publisher in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock development group.

The player input from last autumn’s Project ETHOS playtest was enlightening. It confirmed the potential of a action-packed game but indicated we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the requirement for a sharper vision.

The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You accepted the criticism to heart and revamped Project ETHOS with a revitalized vision - one that’s poised to fulfill its promise to our fans.

Our confidence in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To advance the incredible advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome Ben Brinkman as the new Director of the team. Following several months of discussions, Ben officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

His management and background in the PVP shooter field is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years creating and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and lately, the battle royale hit.

Brinkman currently holds the position of senior developer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. He earlier was employed at major gaming companies in multiple development positions on the Call of Duty series, and, prior to that, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.
